This half term Year 3 had a long home learning project to go alongside our topic, Home Grown.
Their task was to get to know our local environment and be able to represent it. We have been amazed at the models, booklets and information children have shared with us.
We have got models of parts of Blandford, booklets telling you about the town as well as maps showing contour lines and OS symbols.
Well done Year 3!

Calling all Comic Relief secret agents, spies and superheroes!!!! Here is the top secret link to our code-breaking ciper wheel.
This afternoon in Year 3 we used the IPADs with a program called Scratch Junior. It enables us to do some computer progamming (coding) to create our own animations. We chose our own sprites (characters), added motion blocks to create movement, microphones to add sound and even our photos to make our animations come alive. Look out for Lucas driving the car below!!

For World Book Day 2015 we looked at the Roald Dahl story "Fantastic Mr Fox".
We had a 10 step challenge day!! We were given a checklist with 10 activities on them. All of them were related to the story.
The first challenge was to make a story telling prop!!! We made foxy ears, foxy tails, carts to transport the food to the feast and even a giant tractor!!
Our second challenge was to create a set of characters from the story. Look out for Mr Fox, Mrs Fox, Badger, Bunce, Boggis and Bean.
We had a go at being an author and wrote our own chapter for the story!! Mr Fox had another cunning plan!
We used laptops to create our own designs for a new book cover.
We did some character profiling and made our own books.
We tested our knowledge of the story with some Roald Dahl brainbox cards.
We had a go at illustrating in the style of Quentin Blake. The results were amazing. We even suprised ourselves!
We had a fantastic World Book Day. We even got to make bread and prepare fruit for a great feast and watch a short animation by Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake called "Revolting Rhymes".
We love Fantastic Mr Fox.
